Creative Writing
Poetry Workshops
in association with Writers' Block Poetry
These poetry workshops are designed for those who want to work on the craft of creating and editing poems. They offer participants:
- Small groups of 2-4 people
- Lots of interaction
- Email follow-ups
- Minimal cost
- Hand-outs of resources and writing prompts
Here's how it works. For each group of participants, we'll arrange a time to get together for an hour and a half. Each participant will bring one or two poems to be "workshopped." That is to say the poem will be analyzed for content, message, and form. Avenues for improvement will be discussed. Based on the poems presented, we'll talk about some of the common pitfalls of writing poetry and how to get around them.
After the workshop, participants can continue to work on those poems with me by email.
Based on questions from participants, topics could include:
- What makes a good poem
- Overcoming writer's block
- Avoiding cliches
- How to cut poems
- How to build poems back up again
- How to publish your poems
- Line breaks
- And more
Email me to get involved.
