Poetry Awards and Honors
2007 1st place winner Columbus Arts Festival. Poems submitted on paper were "Dance of My Forefathers" and "Death Row Cook"; poems read at the audition were "Text Editor" and "Death Row Cook". Donielle Johnson won 2nd place and Fred Kirschner got third.

2006 2nd place William Redding Contest -- through the Poetry Forum at Larry's. Andrea Scarpino took 1st. Annie Price was awarded 3rd.
2006 2nd runner up in the Columbus Arts Festival. It means I came in third. Poems submitted were "The Ugly One" and "Donating Blood". The two poems I read at the audition were "The Ugly One" and "Harvest Moon Voice". Rose M. Smith took 1st and Kathleen Burgess took 2nd.
2005 "Adopted People" won an honorable mention (but no publication) in the 2005 contest held by Perigee: Publication for the Arts.
2004 Ms. Under-appreciated from the first annual Writers' Block Poet's Choice awards [ See the Journal Entry for an explanation ]
1992 Honorable Mention in a George Mason University sponsored contest for The Laurel Tree - I really should look this one up to see what the contest was.
1992 Mary Roberts Rinehart award for a manuscript
1991 Virginia Downs, 3rd place award for Penelope to Her Loom (30 Years Later)
