11/13/2006 Archived Entry: Workshop Last Night

I had a workshop with Dave and Maranda last night. This was one of the best. It had a different goal: getting the from idea to the page. I think I give them some gimmicks and one great (my best) method to force a poem to the page. My favorite way to get the from idea to the page was discussed but is not viable for the workshop setting.

UPDATE: In case you're wondering, my favorite way to get from the idea to the page is to go for a walk, swim, or drive (or play a computer game if I have the whole day) until I get all the material for a poem.

What are your favorite ways to get to from the idea to the page?

Dave and Maranda -- thanks for being such great workshop participants!

I don't think I have a favorite way. I've never really thought about that.

thanks for a great workshop. It was a huge help! I am looking forward to more in the future. I am very lucky to have such great direction and mentors.
I am going to put this to practice and plan to have something new to read on Friday.

MM, I say I have a favorite way and it's true, I like to walk or swim before writing a poem. But each one always feels like it was born differently.

Dave,
You're coming out Friday? Great! I can't wait to hear you read.
