01/31/2006 Archived Entry: My "Poetry Forum at Larry's" Feature reading last night

It went well. In terms of "product," I unloaded seven eight chapbooks (I sold one this morning) and handed out a couple individual copies of poems ("Penelope" to Frank Richardson, "Sin-Eater" to Philip Hickman). Here are the set lists:

First Set:
Penelope to Her Loom (30 Years Later)
Helen to the Sea
David
The Shore or an Island
Sin-Eater
Eve's Curse
Not the Day for the World's Best Poem

Second Set:
Does Anyone Know
Adopted People
Kiss Me Again -- Now I'm Talking About Addiction, Now I'm Talking About Sex
When I Step Here (by request)
Day Four
Here Is What You Think (a Man Got Lynched)
Donating Blood
Church Games (this was the only virgin poem of the night)
Kings
Teaching My Daughter My Language
(The F poem, I don't want search engines finding my site on that word but you know what it is, it's a pretty word -- by request)
Locust Pods

I know that's not exactly the right order and the second set looks way longer than the first, but that's what I'm recording. I totally forgot to bring a cover. In that venue, I don't really need to do a cover. Still, it would have been a nice thing to do.

Afterward Gina Blaurock, Vernell Bristow, and I met to hammer out a team piece for the MPSL. Vernell did most of the brilliant work while Gina and I joshed around with Tallest Shaun "Raindrop" Barber who joined us for half-priced appetizers. So I'm kind of tired right now, and I think that shows in this post. But I would like to thank with great enthusiasm (woot) all my friends who came out or tried to come out. I will quote Scott Woods on the effect my presence had: "Half the folks there were [my] peeps."

Thanks. I think I was forgetting to be anything but myself by the second round -- and that's where I ought to be? Aye?

Thank you for coming. It was great to have you there. You made it to all three! Hooray!
