05/27/2005 Archived Entry: Family Friendly

So it wasn't something I mis-heard. Scott Woods really did offer to put me in the line-up of the poetry slam at the Columbus Arts Festival. You'd think among my hundreds of poems, I'd have a whole bunch of family friendly work. Well, aparently not. While I don't swear that much, I use a lot of explicit language -- a lot. Thus I charge myself with the family friendly constraint. Thus I am digging up some notes to an homage to the blond sister poem. Thus I'm trying to figure out if "Hello Pen" is actually funny. Thus I wrote this one this evening.

The Dark Side

The factual kernel of this poem = Carrie really did weep over Darth Vader's death -- wept and wept and wept and asked that we remove the movie from the house. Carrie also really did identify with Swiper the Fox and not plucky Dora the Explorer. And I really do try to tell that what Jesus said was important.

You told me you were atheist!

Anyway, I always identified with Darth Vader, although Darth Maul is pretty cool, too.

And if she thinks seeing Darth Vader die in Jedi is rough, don't EVER let her see how crappy and drama queen Lucas made him in Sith.

Well, I kept thinking, why the hell should I be coy and use the inaccurate word "agnostic"? I should either say it or not and if I'm really going to avoid picking a fight with a certain someone, I shouldn't say anything at all. I hope this makes sense.

Oh, that's gone too. I meant the part about Jesus.
