The Age Hormone
The spring wind
and sun make me so
tired, I want to lie
down on the hot
asphalt in the
intersection. Yesterday,
I was all, "I want
to be the pain in your
long legs and aching
like a yawn of water
from a bucket turned over."
Today, today
-- the entrance
of the gray. Today,
today -- some ant-
sized gland released
an age hormone. As if
-- when remaining
motionless -- I am not
holding still, I am
stopping.
